About

Ash Kickers BBQ is a competition BBQ team that is based in Kingsport, Tennessee.  The team competes in local and regional BBQ competitions.  Most of these competitions are contests that have been sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS).

The team entered its first KCBS competition in Johnson City, Tennessee in 2009.  This first attempt to compete was with a smoker that had been converted from propane to charcoal in the basement and a borrowed side burner smoker.  This was enough to get us going.

The team followed up the first contest with another in Franklin, North Carolina later that year.  For this second contest, the team took 3 brand new smokers.  To say the experience was challenging would be an understatement.

Since these first contests, the equipment list has continued to grow as has the results.
